About Ashgabat Medical Secondary School named after I. Gandhi
The I. Gandhi Medical Secondary School of Ashgabat was established on 16 August 1978 by Order
No. 593 of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan under
the name Ashgabat Medical School. On 30 November 1984, the institution was officially
named after I. Gandhi.
According to Order No. 93 of the Ministry of Health
and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, dated July 7, 2003, "On Improving
the Organizational Structure of the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Sector"
the institution was officially renamed the I. Gandhi Ashgabat Medical Secondary
School.

To prepare mid-level medical
professionals in accordance with international standards, the Ministry of
Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the Asian
Development Bank, has implemented the “Improving Nursing Quality
and Capacity Project” In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding has been
signed with Northwest College (USA) to promote international cooperation and
exchange of experience.
The school actively supports students' academic, creative, and
professional development through the Young Scientists Council, the Student
Council, the School of Professional Excellence, and the Mentorship School.
Furthermore, the Department of Professional Development and Retraining for
mid-level medical and pharmaceutical specialists provides continuing education
and advanced training programs.
